  • U.S. Marshals National Operation Nets More Than 1,500 Fugitives

    Indianapolis – The U.S. Marshals Service has conducted a high-impact fugitive apprehension initiative focusing on the country’s most violent offenders in 10 cities.

    This 30-day initiative, called Operation North Star (ONS), resulted in the arrest of more than 60 fugitives, gang members, sex offenders and violent criminals in the Southern District of Indiana.

    Austin, TX – The Austin woman accused of killing world class cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson May 11 has been captured in Costa Rica.

    The U.S. Marshals Office of International Operations, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Department of State Diplomatic Security Service, working with authorities in Costa Rica, located and arrested Kaitlin Marie Armstrong June 29 at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas.

    Armstrong, 34, will be deported and returned to the U.S.

    Michael Kelly Elliott, 29 years-of-age, was featured on June 8th as the U.S. Marshals “Fugitive of the Week” here in New Hampshire. Mr. Elliott was wanted on a Strafford County (NH) arrest warrant for bail violations stemming from an ongoing narcotics case.

  • Missing Fort Myers Children Recovered in Nuevo Leon, Mexico

    Fort Myers, FL - The U.S. Marshals Service Mexico Foreign Field Office and the Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force from Fort Myers partnered with state and local agencies to locate and recover two missing and endangered children in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, June 23.

    The children were reported missing June 20, having been abducted by their biological parents, charged with interference with custody, who then fled the United States. The family was eventually located in Linares, a small city in the state of Nuevo Leon.

    Newark, NJ – The U.S. Marshals Service has concluded a 3 day enforcement initiative focusing on subjects wanted out of Essex County, NJ for charges including homicide, weapons possession, robbery, failure to register, and assault. Specifically, “Operation Essex Thunder” resulted in the arrest of 34 individuals on outstanding warrants including 9 for known gang members, and the recovery of one “ghost gun” and ammunition.

    Memphis, TN – The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Task Force (TRVTF) recently completely 16 hours of training that focused on crimes against children. This week, instructors from the Texas Department of Public Safety traveled to Memphis and provided instruction in “Interdiction for The Protection of Children”. The training will assist the Two Rivers Violent Task Force in establishing the status of a child who may be missing, exploited, or at risk of exploitation.

    Philadelphia, PA – Members of the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, arrested MarlonCooper,18, in relation to a shooting which occurred on August 7th, 2021,in the 1200 block of Cover Lane in Chester, PA. A warrant for criminal homicide was issued for Cooper in January 2022. Cooper then became a fugitive, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia adopted the case in early June and began an investigation. 

  • Robbery Suspect Barricaded in Home Arrested by U.S. Marshals

    Cleveland, OH – Late this afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), along with the Cleveland Division of Police SWAT Team, arrested Sheldon Payne, 29.

    Payne was wanted by numerous police agencies in the Cleveland area including Cleveland, Solon, Brooklyn, and Strongsville Police Departments. Warrants were issued for multiple robberies, thefts, shoplifting, and fraud. On at least two separate occasions Payne is alleged to have pepper sprayed employees prior to the crimes.

    Portland, OR – The United States Marshals Service, Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, in coordination with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Multnomah County’s Department of Community Justice (Parole and Probation), Gresham Police Department, Portland Police Bureau, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) conducted Operation Safer Multnomah, a U.S. Marshals-led initiative that targeted violent fugitives, focused efforts to reduce street level criminal activity, & identify and arrest criminal suspects involved in recent shootings.
