St. Thomas, VI – The U.S. Marshals (USMS) in Delaware on Wednesday arrested a St. Croix man wanted for a November 2025 attempted murder in the Virgin Islands.
Dumaray Iles, 34, was wanted by the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) for first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and mayhem following a Nov. 27, 2025, shooting incident in Golden Rock, Christiansted.
On Aug. 4, the VIPD requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force in the District of the Virgin Islands in locating and apprehending Iles.
USMS investigators, with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations, confirmed that Iles left the territory for Philadelphia in May 2026.
On Sept. 30, USMS investigators received information that Iles was working as a horse handler at the Delaware Park Racetrack in Wilmington, Delaware. Investigators from the District of the Virgin Islands requested assistance from their counterparts in Delaware.
The USMS Delaware First State Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended Iles at the Delaware Park Racetrack without incident. Iles is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility in Wilmington and is expected to be extradited to the Virgin Islands.
“Those wanted for violent crimes should understand that crossing state lines or traveling thousands of miles will not stop the U.S. Marshals Service from pursuing them,” said Kwesi R. Howard, U.S. Marshal of the District of the Virgin Islands. “Our partnerships and nationwide reach allow us to track down fugitives and bring them before the courts to answer for their alleged crimes. This arrest is another example of that commitment.”
