U.S. Marshals in WV Offering up to $5K Reward for Info Leading to Capture of Sex Offender Last Seen in El Paso, TX

Charleston, WV - The U.S. Marshals (USMS) Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force is asking for the public’s assistance and offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the capture of a Mineral Wells man wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and a parole violation.

Gabriel Allen Hargus, 49, is wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service, the West Virginia State Police, and West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (Parole) on federal and state warrants.
Hargus was convicted in 2011 for possession of materials depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and third-degree sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl. He was sentenced to two years in prison and 30 years of supervised release and must remain registered as a sex offender for life.
Hargus is a white man, standing 6 feet 1 inch and weighing approximately 195 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen in El Paso, Texas, driving a 2016 Silver Ford Focus with West Virginia license plate No. N3R908.

The U.S. Marshals have a long history of providing assistance and expertise to other law enforcement agencies in support of fugitive investigations. The success of U.S. Marshals task force initiatives, combined with the outstanding relationships forged with other law enforcement agencies, has led to the formation of permanent fugitive task forces, as well as ad-hoc task forces in response to unique cases that pose immediate threat to the public. In 2025, U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive task forces arrested over 73,000 federal, state and local fugitives and cleared nearly 88,000 warrants.
