D.C. Safe Task Force Continues the Crime Fight

Washington, DC – The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force made over 200 arrests this week since Sunday. This unprecedented level of sustained zero-tolerance collaboration against crime will continue. This weekend is no exception, as task force members will be out in full force seeking out and arresting those looking to harm residents and visitors of our Nation’s capital.    

On Sunday, Task Force Officers arrested Kenneth Brock-Smith for Homicide following a reported stabbing. The victim was transported to Med Star hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A knife was recovered at the scene.

A Sunday traffic stop for a violation of tinted windows led to the arrest of David Thompson for Possession with Intent to Distribute while Armed, Felon in Possession, Carrying Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm/Ammunition Large Capacity Feeding Device and Contempt of Court.

Mouhamed Lam was arrested on Tuesday for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm/Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, Felon in Possession, and an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop for parking in a no parking zone.

Tim McCrae was arrested on a warrant for 1st degree murder on Wednesday. The charge was related to a homicide which happened on August 4, 2026. Task Force Officers located McCrae at a residence and knocked on the door for him to exit. McCrae eventually came to the door and was arrested.

Also arrested for 1st degree murder related to the same incident on August 4, 2026, was Henry Buchanan. Task Force Officers located Buchanan at his jobsite and he was arrested without incident.

Also on Wednesday, Task Force Officers observed a Nissan driving recklessly at a high rate of speed in reverse. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, Deshawn Grant, did not comply. He drove into oncoming traffic, colliding with 2 police vehicles and a guardrail. After the traffic stop, it was discovered Grant had two active warrants. The Nissan was found to have been stolen. Grant was charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and the two arrest warrants.

Donnel Craig was charged with Armed Car Jacking. Craig was arrested by D.C. Safe Task Force Officers after a search for a vehicle that was reported stolen. Craig was suspected of the violent armed carjacking that left the victim brutally beaten. Officers located the vehicle occupied by Craig who was then arrested and charged for his involvement in the carjacking.

Darrel Dark was arrested following the execution of a Search Warrant for Unlawful Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Ammunition, and Possession of Controlled Substances. During the search, Officers recovered 3 Firearms, Crack Cocaine, Marijuana, PCP, and THC Resin. 

The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force has made 18,344 arrests since August 2025, seizing 2157 firearms in the process.

"Crime in D.C. will end! These arrests show why we must enforce all laws in our nation’s capital!  D.C. Safe Task Force will be in full force this weekend aggressively enforcing all laws and making D.C. safe for everyone!" said United States Marshals Service Director Gadyaces S. Serralta.

The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force will continue the mission of to make the Nation’s Capital the safest and most beautiful city in the nation.
