    Youngstown, OH – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) are pleased to report Makayla Popio (12), a missing juvenile, was recovered safely in the 700 block of Park Ave. Youngstown, OH. Popio was last seen on August 14, 2022, when she was reported missing to the Campbell Police Department. The USMS Missing Child Unit has been vigorously investigating her whereabouts ever since. The investigative efforts led to Popio’s recovery and the arrest of a 46-year-old male.

    Cleveland, OH – Late this afternoon, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Ja’Vair Walker, 20.  Walker is currently wanted by the Buffalo, New York Police Department for murder.

    Police in New York believe Walker is tied to a shooting which occurred back in August 2021 where a juvenile female was shot and killed while riding in a vehicle. A warrant was issued for Walker one week ago.  From there, investigators learned that Walker may have fled New York and was possibly hiding somewhere in northeast Ohio.

    Toledo, OH – The U.S. Marshals are alerting the public of a current imposter scam involving individuals claiming to be U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott. Scammers have been calling victims to explain they missed court dates, have outstanding warrants, or failed to appear after being served with subpoenas. No such subpoenas were ever served, and the victims were not named in any court case. The scammers even have a recording saying the caller has reached the Federal District Courts and can be connected to the U.S. Marshals.
