AKRON, Ohio – This afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Stanley Smith, 41. Smith was wanted by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for felonious assault and having weapons under disability.

On July 8, 2025, Smith was involved in an incident in Springfield Township at an address in the 1400 block of Albrecht Ave. During this incident, Smith allegedly shot a victim in the leg and fled the scene. A manhunt ensued for Smith, and he has been on the run ever since. Springfield Township Police Department initially issued a warrant for Smith on July 8, 2025, and the case was later bound over to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the NOVFTF immediately began searching for Stanley Smith in July of 2025. Over the past year, several interviews were conducted, and investigative leads were followed. Smith was even featured as the U.S. Marshals “Fugitive of the Week”. Recently in the investigation, the NOVFTF learned that Smith was residing in Ravenna, Ohio.  Today, members of the NOVFTF arrested Smith at an address in the 100 block of Spruce Ave., Ravenna, Ohio.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This violent fugitive was on the run for over a year, but our task force officers never stop pursuing him. This arrest is a great example of the tenacity of our task force. We never stop pursuing those who commit violent crimes against the people of our communities.”
