
Cory B. Harris serves as the Acting United States Marshal (USM) for the Eastern District of Arkansas. He was appointed by an Attorney General designation on January 8, 2024.
As Acting Marshal, his responsibilities include leading and directing operations involving the security and protection of the United States Courts, criminal investigations, fugitive apprehension, execution of federal court orders, and other law enforcement activities.
Acting USM Harris began his United States Marshals Service (USMS) career in 2003 as a Deputy United States Marshal. He has served in various districts and positions around the country, including Asset Forfeiture Investigator, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal, Assistant Chief Inspector, and Chief Deputy. Acting USM Harris has held certifications in Conditions of Confinement, Protective Investigations, CPR/AED Instructor, Threat Investigations, and Sex Offender Investigations.
Prior to joining the U.S. Marshals Service, Acting Marshal Harris served his country in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1996. After his discharge, he served as a Police Officer with the Little Rock Police Department from 1996 to 2003.
Acting Marshal Harris has been instrumental in fostering cooperation and partnerships with law enforcement agencies in the community to combat violent crime, bringing his 30 years of law enforcement experience to bear.
Acting Marshal Harris also teaches criminal justice as an adjunct professor at a local junior college. He holds two Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice Administration and Organizational Leadership (Southwest University – 2008 and Waldorf University – 2016). He earned a Doctorate in Business Administration from California Intercontinental University in 2012, with an emphasis in Healthcare Management.
