Lisa Vasquez had been convicted of possession of cocaine in 1999 and sentenced to prison. Upon her release she was placed on a term of supervised release. A warrant was issued for her arrest in May 2004 for violating the terms of probation. She has used numerous aliases in the past such as Lisa Long, Lisa Reynolds, Lisa Benitez, Lisa Guadalupe, Michelle Rogers, and Michelle Sheppard.
