
Brett R. Hall was designated to serve as the Acting United States Marshal (USM) for the Southern District of Georgia by Attorney General Pamela Bondi on July 14, 2025.
Acting USM Hall began his law enforcement career in 2001 as a Corrections Officer with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Jonesborough, Tennessee. In 2002, he became a patrolman with the Maryville Police Department in Maryville, Tennessee, where he worked for nine years and reached the rank of Patrol Sergeant/SWAT Entry Team Leader.
Acting USM Hall has been employed with United States Marshals Service (USMS) for over 14 years and recently served as the Chief Inspector for Employee Development at the USMS Training Division (TD). He was responsible for overseeing the Center of Excellence for Officer Safety and Wellness, as well as the Leadership Development Branch. His responsibilities included leading national training programs such as the Chiefs Development Program and High-Risk Fugitive Apprehension Training Program, along with national program management for Officer Safety Training, Firearms, Less-Than-Lethal, Ballistic Protection, and the Tactical Training Officer program. In 2024, he served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Director for the TD. Prior to coming to the TD, he served as a Deputy U.S. Marshal in the Eastern District of Tennessee and the Middle District of Louisiana.
Acting USM Hall has had the opportunity to be involved in several specialized programs in the USMS, to include the Less Than Lethal Review Board, Auxiliary Compliance Inspection Team, and a Tactical Training Officer. He is a certified Federal Internal Coach and served as a Department of Justice (DOJ) Situational Mentor for the DOJ Mentoring Program. For his dedication and accomplishments with the USMS’s leadership development training programs, he was awarded the 2021 USMS Operational Employee of the Year award.
He earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from Tusculum College in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from East Tennessee State University in 2001. He graduated from the FBI-National Academy Session #292 in 2024.
