'You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide': U.S. Marshals Capture Suspect in the Shooting of a Young Child and Adult Female

Indianola, MS – Delvin Jones, 22, was arrested in Indianola, Mississippi on March 2, 2026, after a fugitive investigation conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS). Jones was wanted by the Indianola Police Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce death or serious bodily harm. 

On February 12, 2026, an adult female, 46, and her young grandson, 7, were shot and seriously injured after their car was riddled with bullets on West Percy Street in Indianola, Mississippi. There was also a toddler, 2, in the vehicle at the time of the shooting that was miraculously unharmed. On February 19, 2026, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Delvin Jones in connection to the shooting. The investigation surrounding the motive of the shooting is still ongoing.

On March 2, 2026, Deputy United States Marshals of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) tracked Jones to a house in the 100 block of Jordan Drive in Indianola. With the assistance of the Indianola Police Department, U.S. Marshals surrounded the residence, and Jones was taken into custody without incident. A Glock pistol was recovered during the arrest and was seized as possible evidence of a crime.

The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) began operations in July of 2006 and was among the first Regional Fugitive Task Forces to become fully operational following the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000. The GCRFTF has partnership agreements with over 61 federal, state, and local agencies and has 8 fully operational offices. The GCRFTF has successfully apprehended over 70,800 fugitives since its inception and has made an extraordinary impact on the apprehension of the region’s most dangerous and violent fugitives, always striving to make their communities safer.
