Akron, OH – This afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Kameron Darnell Griffin, 23. Griffin was wanted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia, for murder.

Griffin and others are alleged to have kidnapped Dallion Lewis from his home in Hepzibah, WV on March 21, 2023, with the intention of harming or killing him. Lewis’ body was later discovered on Jack Run Road with apparent gunshot wounds that caused his death. Griffin is alleged to have shot Lewis two times during the kidnapping.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force was requested to assist in locating Griffin after Investigators determined he had fled the area. Through coordinated efforts with U.S. Marshals task forces in West Virginia and Ohio, Griffin’s location was identified. Today, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Griffin in the vicinity of Kelly Ave. and 7th Ave. in Akron. During the arrest attempt, Griffin attempted to flee from the residence, but he was ultimately apprehended by perimeter officers. Griffin will appear in northern Ohio for his initial appearance on the charges. If detained, he will be extradited to Harrison County to face trial.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Outstanding collaboration between the U.S. Marshals in northern Ohio and northern West Virginia led to the safe arrest of this fleeing fugitive. Not only did he flee from West Virginia to evade arrest but attempted to flee from arresting task force officers here in Akron.”
