U.S. Marshals Task Force Capture Murder Suspect

For immediate release

Seth Bruce, Deputy U.S. Marshal

Western District of Tennessee
Memphis, TN
(901) 573-8177

Memphis, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest of William Green for First Degree Murder.

On December 5, 2021, Jorge Maldonado was shot to death near the intersection of Trezevant and Capewood in Memphis, Tennessee. Another man present was shot but not killed.

On December 31, 2021, a warrant out of Shelby County Criminal Court was issued for William Green for these crimes. The warrant was for First Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, Attempted First Degree Murder and Employing A Firearm During A Dangerous Felony. The case was adopted for a fugitive investigation by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

In the early morning hours of March 15, 2022, the Two Rivers Task Force and the Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team went to a motel in the Raleigh area of Memphis. Information had been developed that Green was there in a room. After the fugitive refused to open the door, the investigators with the Task Force tried the room key. Finding the door secured against opening from the outside with a key, Task Force investigators forcibly opened the door, using tools specially designed for that purpose. Once the door was open, Green surrendered to arrest without further incident.

"Within the confines of the law and proper procedure, the U.S. Marshals will always do what is necessary to take a fugitive into custody," commented U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force in the Western District of Tennessee with offices in Memphis and Jackson. Its membership is composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and Special Agents with the Tennessee Department of Correction. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
