U.S. Marshals in Houston Arrest Mississippi Prison Escapee

For immediate release

Cameron Welch, Deputy U.S. Marshal-HIDTA

Southern District of Texas
Houston, TX

Houston, TX - The U.S. Marshals-led Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force today arrested one of the four fugitives who escaped early Sunday from the Raymond Detention Center in Raymond, Mississippi, and getting away in a Hinds County public works truck.

Jerry Raynes, who was caught on a surveillance camera Sunday morning at a Hedwig Village service station here, was taken into custody today at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital before he could be discharged after seeking treatment for an unspecified medical condition.

Law enforcement suspected at least one of the men to be in the area, after the getaway vehicle was located under the I-10 and Campbell Road overpass at about 11 a.m. Sunday. The surveillance image of Raynes was captured at about the same time.

Another escapee, Dylan Arrington, was killed in a shootout with law enforcement Wednesday morning at a Leake County home. The home, which is northeast of Jackson, Mississippi, caught on fire during the shootout.

Casey Grayson and Corey Harrison remain at large.

"With the relentless efforts of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force and their partners one escapee from Mississippi was arrested" said T. Michael O’Connor, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas. "Additionally, we would like to recognize the Houston media who covered the story. Due to their coverage, we received a credible tip as to the location of the escapee."
