Austin, TX – Members of the U.S. Marshals-led Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force Wednesday afternoon arrested an individual who was sought for aggravated sexual assault of a child in Williamson County.
Rutilo Alfonso Renteria, 59, who was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child that occurred in July of 2024.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident and obtained an arrest warrant Oct 8, 2025, in the Magistrate Court of Williamson County.
Williamson County requested assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Renteria, who was believed to have fled the greater Austin area.
During their investigation, the Austin-based task force contacted local media outlets and requested assistance from the public on the whereabouts of Renteria, who was a Georgetown resident born in Mexico with ties to the Rio Grande Valley in Mercedes.
On Nov. 24, the task force developed information that Renteria may have fled to the southern border in Mercedes and immediately requested assistance from the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force (GCVOTF) in McAllen.
On Nov. 26, the GCVOTF continued investigative leads in the 900 block of Alexandria Ave in Mercedes and observed a gray, 2015 Nissan Van, parked in the back of residence, where it was partially covered with a tarp, and the license plates were removed.
Investigators concentrated investigative efforts at the residence and arrested Renteria without incident, where he was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail on a $150,000 bond and is pending extradition back to Williamson County.
