U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Apprehends Double Homicide Suspect Sought in the Capitol Region

Austin, TX – On May 29, 2023, members of the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) arrested a man sought on two homicides and an additional warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle with Pflugerville and Austin Police Department’s on May 25.

Raul Meza, 62, of Pflugerville was wanted for a homicide that was discovered on May 20 at a residence located in the 700 block of Camp Fire Trail in Pflugerville, where a male discovered deceased on a welfare check.

The Pflugerville Police Department conducted a homicide investigation and identified Meza as a suspect, and an arrest warrant was obtained. Pflugerville Police requested assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in the Austin Division.

On May 24, the Austin Police Department, Homicide Division, received a phone call from a person who stated he was, Raul Meza and said, “I think you are looking for me”.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force quickly combined investigative information and initiated a fugitive investigation to learn the whereabouts of Meza. Meza was known to be suicidal with violent tendencies and considered armed and dangerous.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Meza in the 12400 block of N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas without incident.

Meza was transported to the Austin Police Department and booked into the Travis County Jail where he will await further judicial proceedings.
