U.S. Marshals, FBI Announce Results of 'Operation No Escape'

Atlanta, GA – The U.S. Marshals in the Northern District of Georgia and FBI Atlanta announced Sept. 19 the results of Operation No Escape, a six-week surge operation in which federal, local and state authorities teamed up to capture 177 fugitives across Georgia. 

These numbers included 28 fugitives wanted for murder, homicide, or manslaughter; 60 people charged with assault, and eight men accused of crimes against children. Fifty-six of the fugitives were captured by arrest teams led by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Operation No Escape was a targeted effort to apprehend fugitives with violent crime warrants in categories such as homicide, assault, sexual assault, robbery, burglary, drug distribution, and crimes against children. 

Additional stats from Operation No Escape: 

•    106 captured in Metro Atlanta                
•    27 captured in Columbus/Albany/Valdosta
•    16 captured in Macon and Athens                 
•    11 captured at HJ-ATL Airport            
•    9 captured in Augusts and Statesboro            
•    5 captured in Savannah and Brunswick
•    15 captured in Cartersville, Dalton and Gainesville 

Additionally, 31 of the fugitives had charges originating with Atlanta Police, 25 in Dekalb County, 10 in Henry County, and six in the remainder of Fulton County.  Fugitives from 58 different jurisdictions across Georgia were taken into custody during Operation No Escape.
