For immediate release

Chester County, TN – On December 4th, 2023, U.S. Marshals captured Jacob Johnson, 24, of Henderson, TN, who was wanted for multiple crimes including three counts of Attempted Murder involving law enforcement officers.

On December 4th around 4 p.m., officers from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office and the Henderson Police Department responded to reports of a reckless driver with a gun. Officers spotted the vehicle driving in the area of Highway 100 and West Main Street in Henderson, TN. Upon officers initiating their emergency equipment, the driver evaded and fired a gun at the officers. They continued to pursue the vehicle until it crashed into a bridge guard rail on TN-200 near Rabbitt Ranch Road. The driver was seen fleeing on foot into a wooded area.

A Chester County Deputy requested the assistance of a U.S. Marshals Task Force Officer (TFO) with an apprehension K-9. The TFO, along with other members of the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson, responded from Jackson to the area where the suspect was last seen. The team entered the wood line with the K-9 leading the search. After a few minutes the suspect, identified as Jacob Johnson, surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident or injury and transported to the Chester County Jail. A Deputy U.S. Marshal found a loaded handgun in the woods.

Johnson faces charges of three counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Reckless Endangerment, and driving offenses. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson Police Department, and Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted.
