U.S. Marshals Capture Attempted Murder and Robbery Suspects in Tennessee and Florida

Jackson, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the capture of Sonny Hudson, Jr., age 19, of Decaturville, TN, and a juvenile, age 17, from Clifton, TN, for Attempted First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery.

On September 5, 2022, at 3:45 a.m., the Jackson Police Department responded to shots fired at the Casey Jones Motel located at 1963 Highway 45 By-Pass in Jackson. Dinarric Woods was found with a life-threatening stab wound and James Theus had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. After the attack, a suspect took property from one of the victim’s vehicles.

Jackson Police Investigators determined that Sonny Hudson and a 17-year-old were allegedly responsible. Jackson police issued an arrest warrant and a juvenile petition for the suspects. The fugitive case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service.

After a coordinated investigation by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson and the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force in Jacksonville, on the morning of September 27, both suspects were arrested. The juvenile surrendered to the Two Rivers Task Force in Decaturville, TN, and the Florida/ Caribbean Task Force arrested Hudson in the 8000 block of Helston Drive in Jacksonville, FL.

Deputy Marshals transported the juvenile to the Jackson Police Department and Hudson was booked at the Duval County Jail in Florida and will await the extradition process back to Tennessee.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force in Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators
