U.S. Marshals Arrest Two Fugitives Wanted in Illinois and Mississippi Homicide Cases

Little Rock, AR – The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force arrested two fugitives wanted in separate homicide investigations from Illinois and Mississippi during investigative operations conducted July 30 and 31.

On July 30, members of the Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Arkansas State Police, Little Rock Police Department and Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 Team, arrested Isaiah H. Houston, who was wanted by authorities in Kankakee County, Illinois, on two counts of first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

At approximately 11 a.m., Houston was involved in an altercation on Labette Manor Drive in Little Rock before fleeing on foot into a wooded area prior to law enforcement’s arrival. The responding task force established a perimeter and conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area. After a manhunt lasting more than four hours, Houston was located and taken into custody without further incident. 

On July 31, the Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force arrested a 17-year-old juvenile at a residence in Conway. The juvenile was wanted by authorities in Holmes County, Mississippi, for accessory after the fact to homicide. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident. Both individuals are currently awaiting extradition.

“Violent offenders cannot escape accountability simply by crossing state lines,” said Cory Harris, Acting United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas. “Our task force will continue working tirelessly to locate and apprehend fugitives wanted for violent crimes.”
