U.S. Marshals Arrest Second Suspect From Deadly E. 55th Street Shooting

Cleveland, OH – This morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Leroy Taylor, 20.  Taylor was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder.

On April 5, 2025, officers with the Cleveland Division of Police responded to a call for a vehicle that crashed into a pole near E. 55th Street and Cedar Ave. Upon arrival at a location near the 2100 block of E. 55th Street, officers located a vehicle with bullet defects on the driver side door and found a male deceased in the driver seat with gunshot wounds to the head and neck area. The initial investigation on scene revealed that two vehicles were engaged in an altercation that resulted in gunshots being exchanged.

Waymon Donat, 19, was initially identified as a suspect in this deadly incident, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 8, 2025, the US Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested Waymon Donat at an address in the 1200 block of Cale Road, Masontown, WV. Further investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police identified another suspect in this deadly shooting as Leroy Taylor. The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force adopted the fugitive investigation efforts for Taylor and today they arrested him at an address in the 3900 block of Strandhill Road, Cleveland, OH.    

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “The investigation and prosecution of this deadly shooting progressed one step closer to closure for the family of the victim today. Our fugitive investigators worked closely with the Cleveland Division of Police on this case, which led to arrest of the second suspect in this incident.
