Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force in New York today arrested a person of interest in the Nov. 16 shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd. The 20-year-old man, whose name has not been publicly released, was taken into custody in Buffalo and is being transported back to New York City to face charges.
After being wounded outside a midtown Manhattan restaurant, Boyd was treated at a local hospital and listed in critical but stable condition.
The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJRFTF) worked with NYPD detectives to locate and arrest the suspect, who fled the scene following the shooting.
USMS task forces are collaborative, multi-agency teams combining federal, state, and local law enforcement to tackle serious crimes like murder, sex offenses, and drug trafficking, making them a crucial force multiplier in community safety.
The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJRFTF) began operations in April 2002 and was the first regional fugitive task force to become fully operational following the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000. The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJRFTF) is the flagship that has allowed seven other regional fugitive task forces to be created across the country. With partnership agreements with over 100 federal, state, or local agencies, NY/NJRFTF has successfully apprehended over 108,000 fugitives since inception.
