U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive Wanted for FedEx Armed Robbery

Philadelphia, PA – Members of the U.S. Marshal's Eastern District of Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force arrested Donte Edwards, 29, for robbery, carjacking, and kidnapping, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on May 26th in the 2900 block of Ruth Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Edwards was wanted for the alleged robbery and kidnapping of a FedEx driver which occurred February 10th, in the 4300 block of Tackawanna street. A warrant was issued for Edwards on May 24th, and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia was immediately delegated the fugitive investigation. Edwards was also wanted for a May 21st, weapons possession warrant in relation to a domestic dispute.

Upon receiving the case, Deputy Marshals in Philadelphia worked with Philadelphia Police's Northeast Detective Division and obtained information Edwards may be residing with a female associate on Ruth Street. At approximately 12:00pm, investigators observed Edwards enter a residence in the 2900 block of Ruth Street. Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force then entered the residence and Edwards was arrested without incident. During the arrest, narcotics were recovered on Edwards person which he is facing additional charges. Edwards was transported to Philadelphia Police's East Detective Division for processing.

This was a joint investigation involving the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Northeast Detective Division. The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives.
