U.S. Marshals Arrest Escape Suspect in Covington

Covington, KY – During the late morning hours of December 4, 2019, the U.S. Marshals arrested fugitive Henry Haas on an outstanding escape warrant from Cincinnati, OH.

Haas, while receiving medical treatment at University of Cincinnati Hospital as an inmate of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), ran from authorities and escaped custody. Haas was in the Hamilton County Justice Center on a hold for the Adult Parole Authority for Robbery. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office investigators filed an arrest warrant for Haas and U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), together with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit, developed information that Haas was in Covington, KY. Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team quickly located Haas near the 2000 block of Russell Street and arrested Haas without incident. Haas is currently in custody at the Kenton County Jail awaiting extradition back to Ohio.

Cincinnati's Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team is a fugitive focused, U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state, and federal authorities including the Adult Parole Authority, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Butler County Probation Office, Cincinnati Police Department, Colerain Township Police Department, Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Golf Manor Police Department, Harrison Police Department, Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General, Warren County Sheriff's Office, Mount Orb Police Department, and the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.

U.S. Marshals are the nation's primary fugitive hunting organization and capture more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies combined.
