U.S. Marshals Arrest Chester Murder Fugitive in Media, PA

Philadelphia, PA – Members of the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, arrested MarlonCooper,18, in relation to a shooting which occurred on August 7th, 2021,in the 1200 block of Cover Lane in Chester, PA. A warrant for criminal homicide was issued for Cooper in January 2022. Cooper then became a fugitive, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia adopted the case in early June and began an investigation. 

This afternoon, Deputy Marshals developed information Cooper was in Media Borough. At approximately 11:15am, taskforce investigators from Philadelphia observed Cooper operating a vehicle in the 400 block of East Baltimore Pike. A vehicle stop was then conducted by numerous vehicles of the Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force at the intersection of Manchester and Wallingford Avenue. Cooper attempted to evade the traffic stop but was unsuccessful. He was then taken into custody without incident. Cooper was transported back to Chester City Police Department by task force officers and is currently waiting formal arraignment.

Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Eastern Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force stated, “The Marshals Service has been a long-standing partner with the Chester City Police Department. We are pleased that our collaboration has once again led to the arrest of a violent fugitive.”

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Chester Police Department, Bucks County Sheriffs, and Delaware County Sheriffs.
