U.S. Marshals Arrest Alabama Sex Offender in Maine

Portland, ME – The U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force announce the arrest of Jerry Griffin, 53, in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Griffin was wanted by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama as well as the Biddeford Maine Police Department for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Alabama issued a warrant of arrest on November 3, 2022, in additional to a warrant issued by Maine on January 13, 2023.

Based upon an investigation from the United States Marshals Service (USMS), Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Investigators developed information that Griffin was currently in Maine. Through a collaborative investigative effort, the USMS, Maine Violent Offender Task Force located Griffin and was able to safely apprehend him at a residence in Old Orchard Beach, Maine on April 17, 2023. Griffin was charged as a fugitive from justice in relation to the Alabama warrant and faces the additional charge out of Maine.

The USMS, Maine Violent Offender Task Force received significant assistance by the USMS, Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Old Orchard Beach Police Department. The U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine State Police, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
