U.S. Marshals Apprehend Kentucky Man Wanted for Rape, Sodomy and Sexual Abuse

Frankfort, KY – A man wanted for rape, sodomy and sexual abuse, victim under 12 years of age was apprehended in Georgetown by U.S. Marshals Service - Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force (CKFTF) in coordination with Frankfort Police, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Georgetown Police and Scott County Sheriff’s Department.
June 23, an indictment warrant of arrest was issued by Frankfort Police for James N. Byrd for the charge of Rape in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Victim Under 12 Years of Age. Mr. Byrd was also indicted on Engaging in Organized Crime - Criminal Syndicate.
June 29, Frankfort Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance of the U.S. Marshals - CKFTF to apprehend Byrd from a known location in Georgetown based on their investigation.
June 30, U.S. Marshals - CKFTF led a multi-agency apprehension operation which resulted in the arrest of Byrd without incident at 104 Earls Way in Georgetown.
Byrd was transported to Franklin County where the alleged offenses occurred. Byrd is being held at Franklin County Regional Jail.
