Pair of Human Trafficking Fugitives Arrested in Texas After More Than Eight Years on the Run
For immediate release
Gary Bunt, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal
Grand Prairie, TX - Two fugitives wanted out of South Dakota on human trafficking charges were arrested June 1, 2026, in Grand Prairie, Texas, after spending more than eight years on the run.
Sheilata Gordon, 49, was wanted on a South Dakota warrant for first-degree human trafficking. Myeshia Gordon-Hughley, 53, was wanted on a South Dakota warrant for second-degree human trafficking.
In 2017, in Hughes County, South Dakota, Gordon and Gordon-Hughley were charged with multiple felony offenses, including human trafficking. Following their arrests and initial court appearances, Gordon and Gordon-Hughley were released on bond. After their release, they fled South Dakota, and their whereabouts became unknown.
The U.S. Marshals Service developed information that Gordon and Gordon-Hughley had been hiding in Omaha, Nebraska. Further investigation determined the pair had recently fled Nebraska and traveled to Grand Prairie, Texas, where they were ultimately located at a hotel and taken into custody.
Investigators believe Gordon and Gordon-Hughley lived in multiple states, including Florida and Nebraska, while avoiding arrest. During that time, they changed their identities in an effort to evade law enforcement.
Gordon and Gordon-Hughley were arrested without incident and are awaiting extradition proceedings to South Dakota.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas.
