Memphis Safe Task Force Weekend Recap: Friday-Sunday Saw 93 Arrests, 22 Illegal Guns Recovered

Memphis, TN – The Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) over the weekend executed 93 criminal arrests, including one juvenile, and recovered 22 illegal firearms.
On Sunday MSTF executed 21 criminal arrests, including three juveniles, and recovered eight illegal firearms:
D’Andre Miller, 26, was arrested in the 1500 block of Oaklawn Street on a warrant for first-degree murder. After agents spotted Miller outside his residence, they conducted a knock and announce. He came to the door and was arrested without incident.
Two juveniles were arrested in the 2400 block of Ketchum Road for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of controlled substances. Officers responding to a call for an armed party and shots fired found both juveniles smoking marijuana inside a vehicle. A pat down resulted in the recovery of a .45-caliber handgun, a 9 mm handgun and a 20-ounce bag of marijuana.
When MSTF officers responded to a shooting scene in the 1900 block of East Raines Road in which three people had been shot, they found one person dead, one in critical condition and the third noncritical. The firearms recovered include a 10 mm handgun with extended magazine and an AR-type handgun. The MPD homicide investigation remains active, and the suspect remains at large.
On Saturday MSTF executed 17 criminal arrests, including one juvenile, and recovered two illegal firearms.
A missing juvenile from Iowa was located and recovered in the 3000 block of Airways Boulevard and transported to a secure juvenile services facility in Memphis, pending reunification.
Darnell Jones, 36, was arrested in the 1800 block of McMillan Street on a warrant issued in Arkansas for trafficking/prostitution of a minor. When MSTF initiated a traffic stop Jones attempted to flee on foot but suffered a leg injury in the attempt. He was arrested and transported for medical treatment.
Exzavion Summers, 23, was arrested in the 2600 block of Getwell Road for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances – marijuana. Officers recovered a 9 mm handgun and 510 grams of marijuana.
On Friday, MSTF executed 55 criminal arrests and recovered 12 illegal firearms.
Justin Britton, 33, was arrested in the 1300 block of Winchester Road for alteration of a serial number on a firearm, possession of prohibited weapons, unlawful possession of weapons, evading arrest, and possession of controlled substances. Officers recovered four firearms, marijuana, a drum magazine, and armor piercing ammunition.
Tyrese Jones, 26, was arrested at Brower Street and Radford Road for first-degree murder. Jones also has five additional outstanding warrants. Officers responding to a call of shots fired encountered a victim with five to six gunshot wounds, who later succumbed to his injuries. Officers located and arrested Jones and recovered a loaded firearm from his waistband.
Abron Spraggins, 44, was arrested at North Meade Avenue and Watkins Road for aggravated assault, domestic violence, and felon in possession of a firearm. Officers responding to a domestic call were shot at upon arrival. Spraggins fled on foot and threw a firearm which was later recovered. No injuries were reported.
Ongoing manhunt: The MSTF is asking the public’s help and offering a reward of up to $30,000 for information leading to the capture of a man suspected of shooting a Memphis Police Department officer Feb. 27 during a traffic stop.
Danell Maxwell, 40, of Memphis, is wanted for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, per an arrest warrant issued Feb. 28. He was added to the Tennessee Most Wanted list the same day.
Maxwell is Black, stands 5 feet 10 inches and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and an orange and green reflective vest. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Since the launch of the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative, officers have made 6,943 arrests, including 41 for homicide, 768 for controlled substances, 593 for firearms violations, and 91 for sex offenses. Of those arrested, 197 have been juveniles. The task force has seized 1,139 illegal firearms. These enforcement actions reflect a sustained commitment to reducing violent crime and removing dangerous weapons from Memphis neighborhoods.
Begun in September 2025, the MSTF is a multi-agency initiative to combat violent crime in Memphis. Composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as the Tennessee National Guard, the task force is focused on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms, and locating missing children. Since the operation began, the MSTF has located 148 missing children.
This operation reflects the MSTF’s commitment to coordinated enforcement efforts and its mission to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
