Memphis Safe Task Force Thursday Update: Two Women in Separate Incidents Accidentally Shot in Neck

Memphis, TN – The Memphis Safe Task Force (MSTF) on Thursday executed 53 criminal arrests and recovered 10 illegal firearms.
Of note:
Jonathan Stevenson, 25, was arrested for aggravated assault domestic violence in the 4400 block of Kerwin Drive after he allegedly opened fire on his ex-girlfriend. The woman’s current boyfriend was also armed and returned fire but missed Stevenson and struck the girlfriend in the neck. The boyfriend then drove the girlfriend to the hospital. No firearms were recovered from Stevenson.
Pierre Me Shach Teamer, 26, was arrested for aggravated assault domestic violence in the 3900 block of New Covington Pike for his involvement in an earlier shooting in which he accidentally shot his girlfriend in the neck. Teamer transported her to the hospital for treatment where he was questioned and turned over a firearm related to the shooting. A 9 mm handgun was recovered.
Derrick Marshall, 34, was arrested on a federal warrant for failure to surrender to begin a 33-month sentence for use or carrying of a firearm during a crime of violence or drug trafficking offense and a state felony evading arrest in an automobile in the 3400 block of South Perkins Road. When MSTF members attempted a traffic stop Marshall initiated a high-speed vehicle pursuit, resulting in a crash leading to his apprehension.
Since the launch of the Memphis Safe Task Force initiative, officers have made 5,811 arrests, including 32 for homicide, 634 for controlled substances, 501 for firearms violations, and 84 for sex offenses. Of those arrested, 164 have been juveniles. The task force has seized 543 illegal firearms. These enforcement actions reflect a sustained commitment to reducing violent crime and removing dangerous weapons from Memphis neighborhoods.
Launched in September 2025, the Memphis Safe Task Force is a multi-agency initiative to combat violent crime in Memphis. Composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, as well as the Tennessee National Guard, the task force is focused on arresting violent criminals, clearing warrants, seizing firearms, and locating missing children. Since the operation began, the MSTF has located 148 missing children.
This operation reflects the Memphis Safe Task Force’s commitment to coordinated enforcement efforts and its mission to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable those who pose a threat to public safety.
