Memphis Safe Task Force Delivers Justice, Arrests Guatemalan National on Warrants and Immigration Charges

Memphis, Tennessee — The Memphis Safe Task Force announces the arrest of Nelson Gomez‑Lopez, 26, on active warrants for Aggravated Stalking, Vandalism, and Filing a False Police Report. He has also been charged with Being Unlawfully Present in the United States and VISA/Immigration Document Fraud.
Gomez‑Lopez, a Guatemalan national, was taken into custody yesterday afternoon by members of the Memphis Safe Task Force.
This arrest underscores the Task Force’s relentless pursuit of offenders who threaten public safety and its commitment to holding them accountable. Through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local partners, the Task Force ensures that individuals engaged in violent or unlawful activity are swiftly identified, located, apprehended, and brought to justice.
Since its inception, the Memphis Safe Task Force has made over 2,790 arrests, seized more than 453 illegal firearms, and removed over 300 known gang members from the streets of Memphis. Each operation reflects a determined strategy to dismantle crime, safeguard neighborhoods, and reinforce the Task Force’s role as a trusted protector of Memphis families.
