Massachusetts Fugitive Wanted for Double Homicide Captured

Boston, MA – The U.S. Marshals Service District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Marshals Service District of Southern California announce the apprehension of a man located in Mexico suspected of fatally shooting two teens in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Davinci Leonard, now 23, was wanted for a double homicide in Brockton, MA and stands charged with two counts of Murder and one count each of Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Carrying Ammunition without a firearms identification card.

The Massachusetts State Police requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force with locating Leonard.

“This apprehension is a direct result of the seamless partnership between the U.S. Marshals Service and our national and international law enforcement partners,” said Acting U.S. Marshal Dennis Matulewicz for the District of Massachusetts. “Let this serve as a reminder to those who attempt to evade the law. No matter how far you run or where you hide, our commitment to seeking justice for the victims of violent crime remains unwavering. We will continue to utilize every available resource to ensure that individuals accused of such heinous acts are returned to Massachusetts from anywhere in the world to answer for their alleged crimes.”

The closure of this Major Case was the result of almost a year-long Fugitive Investigation led by the U.S. Marshals Service Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force (MAFTF) in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) and the Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Brockton, MA Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service Mexico Foreign Field Office, U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of California Mexico Investigative Liaison Team/Fugitive Task Force, and Mexican law enforcement agents from the FESC. The cooperation with Mexican Law Enforcement through bilateral agreements enables the successful detention of dangerous fugitives to be brought to justice.
