Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force Launches Cash Reward Tip Initiative to Fight Violent Crime

Washington, DC - The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force announced today a new public tip initiative offering cash rewards for information that helps law enforcement combat gang activity, illegal firearms, and violent crime across the nation's capital.

Anyone can help stop crime. Please call or write in your tip today to help make America’s capital a safer place to live, work, and visit. Law enforcement is seeking information related to gang activity, locations of illegal firearms, drugs sales or distribution, stash houses, known gang members and their associates, and any locations connected to violent crime activity. 

Cash rewards are available for qualifying tips. Up to $2,500 for tips leading to the recovery of illegal guns, $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest and prosecution for violent crimes, and $50,000 for tips leading to an arrest and prosecution for murder. 

Building on one year of aggressive enforcement - which has resulted in over 16,000 arrested, more than 2,000 illegal firearms seized, nearly 100 known gang members taken into custody, and 25 missing children located - the Task Force is calling on the community to become active partners in the mission to make Washington, D.C. safer.

Members of the public are reminded not to approach, confront, or attempt to detain anyone, and should instead report information safely to law enforcement. Reward eligibility is subject to verification. Additional terms, conditions, and program rules may apply. Anonymous tips are accepted, if applicable.

The Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force remains the largest collaboration of federal, state, and local law enforcement and National Guard personnel ever assembled to proactively confront violent crime in a major U.S. city.
