San Antonio, TX – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) Covert Response Unit, arrested a San Antonio man wanted for capital murder in connection with a deadly shooting outside an after-hours bar on the city’s Southeast Side.

Santos Antonio Alvarez, 22, was taken into custody following an extensive investigation into his whereabouts related to a fatal shooting that occurred Feb. 8, 2026. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force joined the search for Alvarez in June and, working alongside SAPD’s Covert Response Unit, developed information that ultimately led task force members to a residence on the city’s Southeast Side, bringing his more than six months on the run to an end.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the victim was leaving the business when he was allegedly attacked by a group of men. During the encounter, multiple gunshots were fired, resulting in the victim’s death. The affidavit identified Alvarez and two other defendants in connection with the shooting. Of those defendants, one later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while the other was taken into custody and remains detained.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family, who have waited more than six months for this day,” said Susan Pamerleau, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas. “We hope this arrest provides some measure of closure and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to pursuing those accused of violent crimes and ensuring they are brought before the court to face justice.”

The U.S. Marshals Service recognizes the outstanding teamwork, professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the law enforcement partners who contributed to this fugitive investigation. The agency extends its appreciation to the SAPD Covert Response Unit and all participating personnel whose coordinated efforts were instrumental in successfully locating and apprehending Alvarez.
