Marcus Collins, Deputy U.S. Marshal

Western District of Wisconsin
Madison, WI
(608) 661-8300

Madison, WI – On Wednesday, November 9, members of the U.S. Marshals’ Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and Madison Police Department arrested a fugitive in 4700 block of Cottage Grove Road on the east side of Madison.

Trenton Holsten, 21, had active warrants for charges of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide (repeater), 1st degree recklessly endangering safety (repeater), contempt of court/disobey order and felony parole violation.

In addition, Madison Police Department (PD) had probable cause to arrest Holsten on new felony charges of false imprisonment, intimidation of a victim, bail jumping and battery.

A body-only search warrant was attained for the residence in advance after information and surveillance led Task Force members to believe Holsten was inside.

With assistance from the Dane County Sheriff's Office and the Madison Police Department, the search warrant was executed at approximately 11:10 am. All law enforcement personnel were wearing outer vests carriers with "U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force" and/or "Police".

Task Force officers knocked and announced their presence at the door of the residence, ordering Holsten to exit the apartment. Simultaneously, officers on the perimeter of the building observed Holsten open a bedroom window on the second story and punch the screen from the frame.

Confronted by a Madison PD K9 Officer, Holsten retreated through the window, opened the door as instructed and surrendered to the awaiting law enforcement.

Holsten was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Dane County Jail.

Anyone with information on wanted fugitives is urged to contact the nearest U.S. Marshals office, the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102, or USMS Tips.
