Fugitive Wanted for Striking and Dragging Police Officer in Massachusetts Captured in New Hampshire

Boston, MA – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Districts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire announce the apprehension of a man suspected of seriously injuring a Lawrence Police Officer during a traffic stop on Tuesday in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Hector Rivera, 34, was wanted in connection to striking and dragging a Lawrence, Massachusetts Police Officer with a vehicle during a traffic stop in Lawrence on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026. Rivera was subsequently charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault and Battery, Failure to Stop for Police, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest. Rivera was also wanted on two additional warrants for Violating an Abuse Prevention Order.
Investigators developed information indicating that Rivera was residing at a residence in Plaistow, New Hampshire. On June 10, 2026, members of the USMS District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force (DMAFTF), the USMS New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force, and the Plaistow Police Department conducted an enforcement operation at the location, where Rivera was taken into custody without incident. Rivera was transported to the Plaistow Police Department for processing and is awaiting extradition proceedings to Massachusetts.

Through coordinated investigative work, a dangerous individual facing severe violent charges was safely apprehended. We extend our sincere thanks to our law enforcement partners in New Hampshire for their vital assistance in bringing this operation to a safe conclusion, and we wish the impacted Lawrence Police Officer a swift and full recovery.”
