Fugitive Sex Offender From Pennsylvania Captured After Found Living in the Woods in Naples, Florida

For immediate release

Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal

Eastern District of Pennsylvania
(215) 783-4548

Philadelphia, PA - Investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force and Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, apprehended Joseph Christopher Mazzoni, 46, in Naples, Florida.

Mazzoni has been wanted since March 9, 2026, by the Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office for Dissemination of Child Sex Acts and Sexual Abuse Material. Mazzoni is a twice convicted sex offender who was previously convicted of Possession of Child Pornography in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The conviction resulted in Mazzoni being categorized as a Tier 3 Sex Offender and carries a lifetime requirement to register residency under Megan’s Law. Marshals believed Mazzoni was residing in Florida and receiving assistance to avoid detection from law enforcement. A search warrant was executed on the morning of May 13th in the 2300 block of Crawford Avenue in Naples. After a thorough search of the property, Mazzoni was found living in the woods behind the residence. He was then transported to the Collier County jail where he awaits extradition back to Pennsylvania.

Eric Gartner, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service has zero tolerance for sexual predators preying on children; as Mr. Mazzoni learned, going entirely off of the grid in a different state offers no respite from the relentless pursuit of justice.”

This investigation included members of the U.S. Marshals Service in Pennsylvania and Florida, Homeland Security Investigations, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Fort Myers Police Department, Collier County Sheriff’s, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Chester Police Department, and Bucks County Sheriff's.
