Florida Homicide Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Puerto Rico

San Juan, PR – The U.S. Marshals Service led Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force (PRVOTF) in the District of Puerto Rico arrested a man wanted for First Degree Homicide.

U.S. Marshals arrested Edwin Colon Vazquez, a fugitive wanted in Orlando, Florida for allegedly shooting and killing another man on May 10, 2020 in Kissimmee, Florida.

Colon Vazquez was located in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Marshals Service began looking for him. Working with U.S. Marshals from the Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force, several leads were developed.

On June 10, 2020, Colon Vazquez was located at Varadero Boat Yard, in Palmas del Mar, in the town of Humacao, where he was apprehended without incident.

Colon Vazquez will be extradited to Florida.

Wilmer Ocasio, U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico indicated that, "This arrest sends a clear message to any fugitive that attempts to flee and seek refuge in our jurisdiction, will not be tolerated".
