Berkeley County Man Charged With Sexual Abuse Arrested by Marshals Task Force

Martinsburg, WV – Members of the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested Sumpun Jerles, 37, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, yesterday.

On March 19, 2021, the West Virginia State Police conducted an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse by Sumpun Jerles. On March 15, 2021, Sumpun Jerles is alleged to have committed acts with a minor that resulted in a warrant being issued out of Berkeley County, West Virginia. Jerles has been charged with sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian of a child. The warrant was referred to the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest Jerles.

On May 20, 2021, members of the Marshals Task Force located and arrested Jerles on Crocus Court, in Martinsburg, without incident.
