Akron Man Accused of Killing 1 Year Old Arrested by U.S. Marshals

Akron, OH – This afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Latrell Wilson, 38. Wilson was wanted by the Akron Police Department for homicide.

Members of the Akron Police Department identified Wilson as the suspect in the beating death of a 1-year-old that happened on January 27, 2022, at an address on Edgewood Avenue in Akron. According to the coroner's office, the 1-year-old had broken ribs, significant bruising, and head trauma. The cause of death is alleged to be from beating or smothering, and according to police Wilson was the only person with the 1-year-old on the date the baby died. This afternoon, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Wilson at his place of employment near the 2400 block of Romig Road, Akron, Ohio.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "Killing a helpless and innocent child is a horrific crime. Arresting this fugitive and bringing justice to the family was at the top of our priority list."
