Abducted Mississippi Teen Found by U.S. Marshals in Jackson, Tenn. Abductor Apprehended

Jackson, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the recovery of a teen who was allegedly abducted from Crystal Springs in the Jackson, Miss., area and transported over state lines to Jackson, Tenn.

In the morning hours of July 24, 2022, a 15-year-old female was found to be missing from Crystal Springs, Miss. The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force in Jackson, Miss., received information that the teen may have been abducted and taken to the Jackson, Tenn., area. The suspect, unknown to the U.S. Marshals Service at the time, threatened the child’s family with violence and demanded ransom for her return.

On July 29, 2022, the Gulf Coast Task Force requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson, Tenn.

On the same day, the Two Rivers Task Force located a suspect, Jeffery Lane, 31, of Jackson, Tenn. The investigation led the task force to a residence on Hawthorne Place where the teen was found. The teen was not harmed and was placed into the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.

Lane was transported to the Madison County Jail and was booked on an unrelated domestic assault charge out of Jackson, Tenn. The abduction investigation remains ongoing by Mississippi law enforcement agencies. The Jackson (Tenn.) Police Department is assisting with the investigation.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The Western Tennessee Division of the TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
