2nd Philadelphia Escapee Caught

Philadelphia, PA — On May 17, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force arrested the second of two men who escaped a Philadelphia prison on May 8th.

Ameen Hurst, 18, was arrested at approximately 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 6100 block of Washington Avenue in the Cobbs Creek section of Philadelphia after he was spotted getting into a vehicle with two relatives.

Hurst was being held at the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center on four homicide warrants when he escaped, along with another man, Nasir Grant, who was arrested by the U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia on May 11th.   

The 10-day investigation for Hurst spanned three states: Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware.

Hurst was arrested after he missed three negotiated deadlines to turn himself in.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Chester Police Department, and Bucks County Sheriffs.
