2 Girls Missing From Toledo Recovered in Cleveland by U.S. Marshals

Cleveland, OH – Late in the afternoon yesterday, members of the U.S. Marshals led SPEAR Unit (Specialized Personnel for Enforcement, Apprehension, and Recovery) safely recovered two missing juveniles.  

On July 10, 2026, the two girls, ages 17 and 15, were reported missing to the Toledo Police Department after it was discovered they left their foster home. Toledo Police worked with the U.S. Marshals SPEAR Unit to assist in recovering the girls. Authorities believed that the girls had traveled to Cleveland with at least one adult male.

Members of the SPEAR Unit, along with the Northeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, FBI, HUD-OIG (Department of Housing and Urban Development-Office of Inspector General), and local authorities immediately began looking for the two girls. Late in the day yesterday, they were able to find and safely recover the two girls at an apartment in the 1200 block of West 25th St. in Cleveland. In addition to the recovery, two adult men were found with them. One male, age 30, was detained at the scene and local police are investigating potential charges against him. Carlos Bruton, 42, was arrested at the scene as well. Bruton is currently on bond in Cuyahoga County with an open case for unlawful sexual contact with a minor and interference with custody. After a search of the residence, authorities also located drug paraphernalia and a handgun.      

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Cases such as this are some of the most important cases we work. Missing children are vulnerable to adults wishing to do them harm and use them for devious and detrimental reasons. We will continue this work across all of Ohio and across the country to ensure the safety of our children.”
