Concord, NH – The United States Marshals Service – NH Joint Fugitive Task Force is very pleased to announce that another “Fugitive of the Week” was arrested Friday morning in York, Maine based on your tips.

Michael Kelly Elliott, 29 years-of-age, was featured on June 8th as the U.S. Marshals “Fugitive of the Week” here in New Hampshire. Mr. Elliott was wanted on a Strafford County (NH) arrest warrant for bail violations stemming from an ongoing narcotics case.

As part of this feature as the “Fugitive of the Week,” Elliott had been aired on WTPL-FM, WNTK-FM, WTSN-FM, WEMJ-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week” continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its creation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week” was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.

Today, members of the US Marshal’s, New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force and the Maine Violent Offenders Task Force followed up on tips that pointed to residence in the 100 block of Scituate Road in York, Maine. At this residence, it was discovered that Elliott was living in a tent on the property, where he was arrested without incident. Immediately following his arrest, Mr. Elliott indicated that the handcuffs in the tent were a “souvenir” from the last time that an officer tried to arrest him in Rochester, NH. These handcuffs were retrieved to be returned to the Rochester Police Department, where there is also a local New Hampshire warrant for Mr. Elliott for resisting arrest or detention.

Mr. Elliott was transported to the York (ME) Police Department, where he was processed as a fugitive from justice on his outstanding Strafford County (NH) arrest warrant. Elliott will be held at the York County Jail pending his court hearing in Maine and eventual return to NH to face his narcotics and resisting arrest charges.

This arrest was made by several member agencies of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, including members from the Strafford County (NH) Sheriff’s Office, the Greenfield (NH), Biddeford (ME) and York (ME) Police Departments, Maine State Police, Maine Department of Corrections, US Customs & Border Protection, along with deputy US Marshals from both NH and Maine.

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,542 arrests (Updated as of 12/31/2021). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
