Portland, ME – The U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force announce the arrest of Stephen MacLellan, 23, of West Baldwin, Maine. MacLellan was being sought by the Cumberland Police Department out of Rhode Island on a warrant issued by them on March 3rd, 2022, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Through a collaborative effort, Maine investigators determined that MacLellan was currently living in Maine and had moved from Rhode Island, failing to register as a sex offender in either state. U.S. Marshals were able to safely apprehend MacLellan at an address in West Baldwin without incident. MacLellan is charged as a fugitive from justice pending his extradition back to Rhode Island.

The U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine State Police, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
