Man Wanted for Numerous Sex Offenses Involving Minors Arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force

Inwood, WV – Members of the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested Joel Keck, 44, of Charles Town, WV on outstanding felony warrants issued out of Jefferson County. The warrants charge Keck with numerous sex offenses involving minors including 1st Degree Sexual Assault (victim under 12 years of age), 1st Degree Sexual Abuse (victim under 12 years of age), and Distribution or Exhibition of Sexually Explicit Material Involving Minors.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force developed information that Keck frequented the area of Development Drive, Inwood, WV. On the above mentioned date, Mountain State Fugitive Task Force members observed Keck operating his vehicle on Development Drive and a traffic stop was initiated. Keck briefly attempted to evade law enforcement but quickly realized he was surrounded and surrendered to officers.

The charges against the fugitive in this case are very disturbing. I am thankful for the work of our Task Force members in locating and apprehending this individual in a safe and effective manner, said Acting U.S. Marshal Terry Moore.

The law enforcement agencies involved in the arrest of Keck were the Martinsburg Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, Charles Town Police Department, West Virginia State Police, and United States Marshals Service.

Keck is currently being held at the Eastern Regional Jail.
