U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Mahanoy Homicide Suspect in Tennessee

Scranton, PA – Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Santonio Pierre Malone, a 36-year-old man with past addresses in Shenandoah and Mahanoy City.

On October 24, 2021, the Pennsylvania State Police investigated a shooting in the 100 block of East Centre Street, Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County. Responding troopers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, one of whom died. As a result of their investigation, troopers obtained an arrest warrant charging Malone with 1st degree murder and lesser included offenses. Attempts to find Malone were unsuccessful and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force was asked to apprehend him.

Today at about 10:45 a.m., members of the USMS Fugitive Task Force checked a home in the 1600 block of Gregory Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, and arrested Malone without incident. He was turned over to the Memphis Police Department for booking and arraignment.

United States Marshal Pane stated, “It’s the Marshals Services’ duty to ensure that those charged with violent crimes have their day in court. It is my sincere hope that members of the affected communities will find some measure of comfort knowing this suspect will face justice.”

The USMS Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 20 state, county, and local police agencies, including: the Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; the Wilkes-Barre Police Department; the Kingston Police Department; the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office; and the Scranton Police Department – all of whom participated in this investigation.
