U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Reading Homicide Suspect in Enola

Scranton, PA – Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Justin Santiago, an 18-year-old Reading man.

On December 10, 2020, the Reading Police Department responded to a fatal shooting in the 300 block of Church Street. Detectives investigated and on December 21, 2021, they obtained an arrest warrant charging Santiago with 2nd degree murder and lesser included offenses. Santiago could not be found, and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force was asked to apprehend him.

Yesterday at about 12:45 p.m., members of the fugitive task force arrested Santiago in the 200 block of Enola Street, Enola, Cumberland County without incident. He was turned over to the East Pennsboro Township Police Department for booking and arraignment.

United States Marshal Pane stated, "The U.S. Marshals Service recognizes the importance of working with state and local police agencies to bring those charged with serious crimes to justice as quickly as possible. In this way the Marshals Service contributes to the overall public safety of our communities."

The USMS Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 21 state, county, and local police agencies; including the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, the Dauphin County Adult Probation Office, the Swatara Township Police Department, the Derry Township Police Department, and the Lower Paxton Township Police Department - all of whom participated in this investigation.
