Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Jayluen Deandre Childs, a 26-year old man with past addresses in Chambersburg and Washington D.C.

On August 4, 2020, the Chambersburg Police Department investigated a shooting near the first block of West Liberty Street that resulted in the wounding of a man. As a result of their investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Childs with Criminal Attempt – Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and lesser included offenses. Attempts to find Childs in Chambersburg were unsuccessful and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force was asked to apprehend him.

Today at about 10:55 a.m., members of the task force arrested Childs without incident near the intersection of 16th Street SE and Hunter Place SE in Washington D.C. He was turned over to the Metropolitan (Washington) Police Department for booking and arraignment.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, "The coordination and cooperation demonstrated by law enforcement in this case led directly to a dangerous fugitive being taken off the streets. It is our top priority to arrest violent crime fugitives, especially those who have no regard for human life."

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 21 state, county and local police agencies and has a long-standing relationship with the Chambersburg Police Department.
