Memphis, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces the arrest of Darius Thomas for Murder out of the state of Indiana.

On February 5, 2021 Shamar Barnes was shot to death in Elkhart, Indiana. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Darius Thomas for this crime.

Working with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, investigators with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information that Thomas was in the Memphis area.

The fugitive was tracked to a motel near 240 and Lamar avenue. The Gulf Coast Task Force and the Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team located the fugitive in a room there and took him into custody without incident.

"The U.S. Marshals work hard to help make sure Memphis is not considered a safe haven for violent fugitives," said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller.
