Oregon Fugitive Shot by U.S. Marshals

Portland, OR At approximately 3:30 p.m. PST on December 8, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force were involved in a shooting incident in Portland, Oregon. The task force was attempting to arrest fugitive Jonathan Crowley, age 31, wanted by the Oregon Department of Corrections on a charge of crimes against person since September 24, 2020.

The fugitive task force located Crowley parked in a vehicle at the 7500 block of North Newell Avenue and attempted to peacefully arrest him. Initial reports indicate the suspect threatened the lives of law enforcement officers with his vehicle, whereupon he was shot by a Deputy U.S. Marshal. Crowley was taken to a hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injury.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. The Portland Police Bureau (Oregon) will lead the shooting investigation. As a matter of policy, the U.S. Marshals Service will not release the names of deputy marshals involved in shooting incidents until all investigations surrounding the incident are concluded.
